Oh Crap Dog Poop Bags are eco-friendly, non-plastic bags made from cornstarch.  The bags are double the thickness of ordinary poop bags, are compostable and disintegrate within three months.

Pick up your dog waste, tie it in the bag, and dispose of it in your regular council, or home compost bin. In the damp environment of the compost, micro-organisms will breakdown the cornstarch bag and contents so that they will have decomposed completely in less than three months.

All compostable products are biodegradable, but not all biodegradable products are compostable.

The Australian government tests are some of the most stringent in the world. In Australia, the standards are AS 5810 for Home Composting and AS 4736 for Commercial Composting. The AS 4736 standard requires that 90% of the original material is gone after 12 weeks, and it’s completely biodegraded after 6 months. If it isn’t compostable, it contains plastic. Biodegradable is a word that has been adopted by marketers and can be misleading. Biodegradable can be translated as ‘will break down at some point’. That could be in a year from now or, more likely, hundreds of years from now. Also, even if the plastic breaks down quickly, but it is merely just breaking down into the microplastics.
