Description

Hikari, the pre-eminent aquarium specialty fish food brand has more than 130 years experience in producing premium aquatic diets.

Hikari Betta Bio-Gold has been developed following extensive research into the eating habits and nutritional requirements of Bettas.

Bettas are also known as Betta Splendens, or Siamese Fighting Fish. Do not put more than one betta in an aquarium. Bettas will fight each other to the death if two, or more bettas are put together.

Hikari Betta Bio-Gold is a floating pellet has been formulated to best meet the nutritional needs of bettas with the inclusion of premium fish meal to provide a superior source of protein. Astaxanthin and Spirulina have been included to help enhance colouration together with flavour attractants such as garlic to promote rapid acceptance. The high concentration of usable nutrients makes this an ideal daily diet for these fighting fish.

Feeding

Feed five to ten pellets up to three times each day depending on the size of betta.

For a betta with a length of approximately 4cms from tip of nose to base of tail (before fin), Hikari recommends feeding three pellets of Betta Bio-Gold up to three times daily. Add one pellet for each addtional 5mm of growth, but never feed more than five pellets during one feed. Feeds should be spaced at least two hours apart and at least two hours before all lights are out in the room. During feedings, one pellet should be fed at a time and each pellet should be consumed completely. Do not over-feed. Overfeeding can be detrimental to the betta and to water quality. Remove any uneaten food after feeding.

Bettas can be finicky eaters and sometimes resist a change to a new type of food. Continued use will ensure acceptance. It is not uncommon for bettas to take up to five days to adjust to a new food.
